On August 23, 2021, with deep remorse & sorrow, we announced the passing of Retired Safety Officer & Former Captain David Marshall, SR (Shield#: 106), nicknamed "FIREHOUSE". Dave Marshall joined his brethren in Heaven, but prior to his Earthly departure served the Center Township Fire Department & the community for well over 52-years.
"When I am called to duty, God wherever flames may rage, give me strength to save a life, whatever be its age. Help me to embrace a little child before it's too late, or save an older person from the horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert to hear the weakest shout, and quickly and efficiently to put the fire out. I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me, to guard my neighbor and protect his property. And if according to your will I have to lose my life, bless with your protecting hand my loving family from strife." - The Firefighter's Creed
Center Township 106, you are off-duty for the final time. We'll take the watch from here brother, rest easy.
On November 30, 2021 we were deeply saddened to announce the passing of our fire service brother. At approximately 6:20 pm on 11/30/2021, current member and Fire Investigator Carl Rigsby was called home to the Lord. Carl served the department for over 40-years and dedicated the majority of his adult life to the fire service. Additionally, Carl was a recent retiree of the Jonesboro Police Department.
Carl was an outspoken and dedicated member of the department, and this loss saddens us as he was our family.
God Speed Brother Carl, and may you be free of the pain and burden you've suffered in your Earthly being. May your spirit fly high, and watch over your family and fire department brethren. Rest peacefully kind sir, we'll take the watch from here.
